UPrinting 2010 Photo Challenge: Exploring American Culture

Posted: 08 Dec 2010 02:57 PM PST

"A camera is an instrument that teaches people how to see without a camera" -Dorothea Lange

Through a camera, a photographer can make us see things that we have failed to realize ever existed. Things that have been around us for the longest time. It’s become important to keep records, visual or otherwise. If we don’t, part of our human cultural legacy will soon be forgotten, and forever gone. Most people in the world don’t even have access to basic necessities, let alone a camera. If you have a camera, you owe it not just to the human race but also yourself to make at least some of your pictures count. In the United States, there are virtually unlimited opportunities for photographers to take pictures that say something, photos that can actually make us feel or understand more about the world we live in.

UPrinting Photo Challenge 2010

This December, we’ll make taking records of our cultural legacies just a little more interesting. UPrinting will give away a Canon EOS Rebel T2i Digital SLR Camera Kit to one savvy photographer who can take a shot that best represents American Cultural Diversity. To sweeten the deal, the winner also gets one (1) 20" x 24" Photo Enlargement Canvas Print. The winner takes it all, so make your photos count!

Submit a photo of your corner of America here: 2010 Photo Challenge: Exploring American Culture. Open to US residents only, void where prohibited. Deadline for submissions is January 28, 11:59PM PST, so hurry and get ready to capture history. Don’t forget to share this contest to others!
